new bedroom

For several months now we have had difficulty trying to get Ariana asleep, then once she is asleep staying asleep, typically she ends up in our bed shortly after getting her to sleep. Every night it was a battle trying to get to sleep before she joined us in our room. Once she joins us and I am awake its nearly impossible to go to sleep in a timely manner.

Ariana hates her bed. No real reason at all. Not sure if she is tired of her bed, how it looks, if the mattress isnt comfortable enough, no reason at all on why she hates her bed. So after much discussion we decided we would look into redoing her bedroom. She is out of the tinkerbell stage and LOVES the princesses. I found a perfect comforter set that screams "Ariana". We took my mother-in-law to the airport a few weeks ago and decided that since we were near Ikea (an hour drive south of us) we would look at the beds and mattresses.

Well on Thursday when I got to work a residents son came to the desk and said his Dad needs a hospital bed and wanted to know if anyone, myself, a resident our my work would like his Dads bed, which includes 2 nightstands, and a headboard, footboard and mattress set. I texted my father in law knowing that a while back they asked me to keep an ear out for someone getting rid of the bed (because everyone knows im thrifty and good deals are magnetized to me:)    ). My father in law said no he didnt want it so I took some pictures and looked at it Will said yes lets get it for Ariana. Whoo!!! The bed could use a bit of TLC to make it a perfect "princess" bed but I dont expect it to cost more than $30!!! So I set it up, rearranged her room and viola, a new bedroom!!! Now all I need is to sand, prime, and paint the bed white, buy a memory foam pad, and paint the nightstand, take down the tinkerbell and add some princess. Its going to look perfect! The nightstand is really cool because the design is easy to make it look like a crown and add some jewels. So, step 1 is complete (and saved me $800!).

Watch out for my future posts of her finished bedroom.

PS- just put Ariana in bed, 1st night in a LONG time that she has fallen asleep on her own, and before 11pm!!!!!

The headboard- painting white or a pale pink, adding jewels, across the top and painting her name across the top in the middle

The night stand, painting white the waves pink and adding some jewels

Her bed

Head-on view of her bed- you can definatly see the mix of princess and tinkerbell

The wall where her old bed used to lay. I will be painting the bookshelves white, and probably buy her a new desser.

Very excited with the future results!
