Dolphin Tales

Everyone should know that I an a sucker for movies that are based on true stories. I LOVE The Blind side, I love that the movie is about a family who took in a teenager that people have given up on and help him reach his true potential. So with me loving dolphins I finally rented Dolphin Tales, and it was a truly amazing movie.

The movie takes place in Clearwater, Fl. The boy Sowyer is an only child who dad walked out on him and his mom years Earlier. His cousin who is like a dad goes off to fight war and h he is struggling in school and has no friends. One day while on his bike a guy asks to use his cell phone to call for help because a dolphin is tangled up and wahed ashore. When the man calls for help Sowyer gets out his pocket knife and cuts the ropes off the dolphin. While doing this he has an instant connection with the dolphin (Winter). Later that day when school gets out he rides his bike to the marine hospital, sneaks into the hospital to find out how Winter is doing. A little girl who's dad is in charge of the hospital catches him and they become friends. The little girl, Hazel, and Sowyer becomes instant friends. While visiting Winter perks up when she knows that Sowyer is near. Once the doctor knows that Sowyer has an instant connection with Winter they welcome him into the hospital. Sowyer's Mom finds out that every day for a week he is missing school and sees how excited he is about the dolphin. Sowyers Mom decides to take him out of school and gets him homeschooled at the hospital with his new friend Hazel.

The hospital funding is ending and the hospital is in debt after a hurricane hits and causes $500,000 in damage. When Sowyer and Hazel find out that the hospital is ending and Winter is going to be put down to sleep (due to an amputated tail) Sowyer finds a protetic doctor who makes the perfect prostetic tail for Winter. The kids then set up a huge fundraiser raising enough to save the hospital and a developer funds the hospital. The movie ends with the hospital being saved and Winter is saved and is a very happy dolphin swimming perfectly in her new home (the marine hospital) with Sowyer by his side.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the movie. The best story plot ever
1st- never underestimate the power of love
2nd- people are smart, even children- just because a person doesn't get straight A's doesn't mean that they have not reached their full potential
3rd- underdogs always come out as winners.
