We just finished out our first week of being here in our new place. This last week was very busy. I'm just going to give a brief run down of the week, and some thoughts of where we are now in our life.
I didn't get as much done as I had hoped for this week. We are still on the hunt for sufficient daycare, and need to contact the school district about her new school and registering her for school. Ariana is bugging us to put her into gymnastics. As soon as I get a job and find daycare, finding a gym will be next on my list.
We are still figuring out our new neighborhood. We do know wet are close to everything possible, and tonight I found a Walgreens around the corner from our place. I was thrilled to see a Walgreen around the neighborhood, especially since that's my fast go-to store and where we get our prescriptions picked up. Our complex is huge all this week I want to tame Ariana and Bear on a walk to find other areas in the complex that we haven't seen yet- like the other pool and play ground.
We pretty much got our apartment functional with almost of the boxes unpacked. We are also starting to get into a normal routine again, with Ariana giving us a hard time. She is obsessed right now with gymnastics and it is driving us crazy. She is goggling gymnastics bars and tells us "$325 for a gymnastics bar isn't expensive". When I told her we don't have room for one she pointed to the dining room and said that's were we can put it. Sure Ariana, let's put the bar on the table and move it when we eat! UGH! When she isn't goggling gymnastics equipment she is on YouTube watching girls her age doing gymnastics moves. So... that has been our life the last couple days.
On Sunday we went to our new ward. And, all I can say is God knows exactly where we need to be in our life right now. We are in the perfect neighborhood, and a great ward. There is no doubt in my mind that we should be anywhere else at this moment. On Sunday we had a lot of people come up and introduce themselves to us, we sat with the missionaries in Sacrament, and we went to Sunday School and it was a small intimate class with the chairs in a big circle, which made me feel more comfortable. I do not do well in big group settings, I would rather sit in the back and act like I don't exist. Yesterday we had some ladies from church come over and chat with us for a bit and welcome us into church. Ariana has a couple new friends, and is amazed at how many kids are in her class. Really, in general the families are so much larger here than in Seattle.... which I already knew, but I am just starting to realize it. Our tiny family of 3 is defiantly not normal for families here.
Ariana loves her life here, and so does Will. I on the other hand, am still adjusting. Ariana loves the weather and heat, but hates going into Will's car as it gets hotter inside than my car. She has her swim suit picked out every morning hoping for a dip in the pool. Bear seems like he loves it here. He always wants to be outside and he gets more sunbathing time than in Seattle (he is asleep on the floor in the sun right now). Will, he is just a happier person. We have been getting along a lot more, and communicating better. He loves his job and the company he works for, but is still hoping for a 9-5 job. I keep telling him to stop looking at his schedule, and start looking at what he has. For me, I am surviving. Don't get me wrong, I love it here. I LOVE our new place, I love the ward, the neighborhood, the mountain view... But, I don't think I will fully accept being here until I get involved again. I am excited to start a new job and get out of the house, and make more friends. I do love that I have 2 great friends very close by and I am enjoying hanging out with them, but while they are at work I am sitting in a quiet house. I can't wait to go out with the gals. My Aunt works for an airline and she said I might get a spontaneous call to go on a short getaway to NYC or somewhere else. I am hoping that call comes soon, but its hard to say when, just depends on the flights. One thing I am waiting for is school to start so we can get Ariana in a troop, and I can help out, or be a leader again. Girl Scouts is one of the best decisions I made to do with Ariana. Overall, I am just trying to adjust, and get reestablished here. It is taking me longer than Will and Ariana, but I think soon I will be as happy as Will is with this.
As for the week... I was really rushing to get things done this week. We had the missionaries coming over on Wednesday so we had to get furniture, and my sister coming to town on Thursday. I met up with my sister on Friday and we shopping a bit, and got ready for her best friends wedding. Friday evening KayLynn, Ariana and I headed to Manti for the wedding Saturday morning. Half way to Manti (2 hour drive) KayLynn's date for the wedding bailed on her so we decided that I would just stay in Manti since she now needed a ride back to SLC and help getting the reception set up, so I ended up being her date. Saturday we great because I got to see a friend I hadn't seen since High School and catch up a bit with her. I also got to see several other friends that were there. When Sunday came around we had church, and a birthday party for me/ welcome party. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, and chatted with everyone. Since KayLynn was in town my Aunt and cousins got to see her for a bit too. Monday was my birthday, we were supposed to go see a movie and do lunch but we didn't leave until almost 2:00 so instead we went shopping and went out to lunch. My friend and her husband came over for dinner and played some games so it was a fun day. We made plans for different future double dates, a gals night out, and guys night out. Pretty much, I had a productive week.
Another update in a week or so...
