reasons for moving

We announced on Facebook about a month ago that my family and I are moving. Yes, in the past we have talked about it, it's been years (and I mean YEARS) of talking, we have finally decided to do it. The main question is.... Why are you moving? Where are you moving? What job will you do/ do you guys have jobs? Why did you decide to move there? Do you have family or friends there? So.... this has been a blog post I have been wanting to do, but haven't done.

Why are we moving? Well, we are looking for a change, a fresh start, and a more affordable place to live. Now I get the comment of, but isn't the cost of living cheaper? Yes, it is, jobs do not pay as well... However, we can buy a house for as much as you pay on rent, that doesn't happen here. The average new construction home in Puget Sound is $425,000.... we are not doctors, lawyers, or a professional that makes enough money for a $2500 month mortgage, so in order for us to buy a house, we have to move. Yes, buying a house is our next big goal. Now, into jobs... Will went to Salt Lake City about 2 weeks ago and landed him a pretty awesome job that I am excited about. Yes, the job hourly wage is less than he makes at Lowe's, but he only worked 16 hours a week, not 40 hours like his new job. Will ideally wants a job working around Airplanes, but he also has been trying to get in with Comcast for years and his new job would be comparable to working for Comcast. I will not be looking for another receptionist job. I love my work, but it's time for me to step it up in my career and look at widening my horizons and I am going to be an Admin Assistant or Executive Assistant, work for the college, Dr offices or for the government. A job like those I will get paid the professional wage which is above what I currently make living in Puget Sound, so we will be coming out ahead than we are currently. There are several other reasons why we want to move, but that's a main reason.

Where are we moving? We want to stay in Salt Lake County for now. When we buy we might expand our area a bit and go into Utah County. We are wanting to be in the Jordan School District because the schools are year around. We like Salt Lake County because it's central to everything which makes it an easy commute to work. We also like West Jordan/ South Jordan so that's where we are thinking.

Why did you choose SLC / do you have family there? We started looking at the midwest and south but decided it was too far away from our family here in Puget Sound that we wouldn't be able to visit often. We want out of Washington in general so Eastern Washington wasn't an option for us. We want snow in the Winter and hot Sun in the summer. We don't want days on end of rain. We also looked at places that we can afford, and how much we could potentially make to make sure we can afford a house. Yes, most of my extended family is in the SLC area. Both of us also have friends that live there, Ariana has been there so she already has friends there which will help with her transition.

Where are we moving? We like the Jordan School District because most of the schools are year round and there a lot of Charter Schools we can try and get Ariana into, so we are looking at places in that school district.

My last day of work in June 6th. I am hoping to join Will in Utah from June 11-19th. Our moving date is June 30th. We are excited to move, and ready for a new start.
